Collection of B-sides and rarities from the Las Vegas indie rock quartet The Killers. A compilation of tracks from soundtracks and single releases, as well as previously unreleased material from the 'Sam's Town' and 'Hot Fuss' sessions, this is an album that will please all those Killers completists out there. Includes the Joy Division cover 'Shadowplay'.
Oct 2007
'Sawdust', The Killers' b-sides and rarities album, includes brand new single 'Tanquilize', (featuring Lou Reed), 'All the Pretty Faces' (the B-side of 2006's #2 single 'When You Were Young'), a cover of Joy Division's 'Shadowplay' (from Anton Corbijn’s biopic, Control) and 'Move Away' (from Spiderman 3), as well as a cover of Kenny Rogers & The First Edition's 'Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town'. Additionally, 'Leave The Bourbon on The Shelf', the first part in the famed murder trilogy of 'Hot Fuss' (with 'Jenny Was a Friend of Mine' and 'Midnight Show'), will feature on the record.

To say that this is an album of "B-Sides and Rarities", this is AMAZING! B-sides are supposed to be generally poor, but The Killers never fail to impress. This album is excellent, a must buy :)

Id buy it just for track number 5! Its brilliant! Different version of Mr Brighside is quality too. Cover of Dire Straits Romeo and Juliet. is good too. Album took me a couple of listens to get into but i had that with Sams Town too and i loved that. Well worth the money.

Though a batch of 1980s-New Wave-inspired bands started making noise in the early 2000s, it wasn't until the Killers' 2004 debut album HOT FUSS (and its crossover hits "Somebody Told Me" and "Mr. Brightside") that the style really broke through to the mainstream. Heavily indebted to the likes of the Smiths, Psychedelic Furs, et al, the Las Vegas, NV quartet brought a contemporary sense of urgency to their retro-loving dance-rock sound and taught a new generation of kids that it doesn't have to be disco to be dance music. For follow-up SAM'S TOWN, the group obviously feasted on a gorge of Bruce Springsteen style rock, and while the sound boasted a slightly harder edge, the group retained the critics' and fans' adoration.
