Echo is the second studio album by 2006 X-Factor winner Leona Lewis. She has been working with Ryan Tedder, Justin Timberlake, Xenomania and James Fauntleroy amongst others to produce the follow-up to her debut album 'Spirit'. The album includes the single 'Happy'.
As with Lewis's debut album, Spirit, each of Echo's producers have been enlisted by her mentors Simon Cowell and Clive Davis. Lewis worked with Ryan Tedder, producer of her second single "Bleeding Love", who stated in an interview that he and Lewis spent a week in a recording studio, where they produced two and a half songs, including the album's lead single "Happy". Justin Timberlake has contributed production and vocals to several songs, including "Don't Let Me Down", written by Timbaland's protegé James Fauntleroy and recorded at Chalice Recording Studios.
Lewis said of the album: "I titled my album Echo, since an echo describes a big, organic sound. I'm working with incredible songwriters and producers, and my music has really evolved. It's so exciting to create something new." She also said, "I'm actually more confident with this album than the last. I've taken more control this time and I feel more at ease with everything." She told Variety magazine that "I wanted the album to have a little bit more of a live feel to it, with a little more live instrumentation."
