Aug 2009
'All Night Cinema' sees Just Jack at his blistering best. Produced and almost entirely written by Jack (along with co-production by past collaborator, Jay Reynolds), Jack has come up with a genre-busting album, packed with infectious, catchy, hook-laden tunes.
The new album features straight-out, hard-hitting pop songs, wrapped around Jack's razor-sharp lyrics and acute observations. Lyrically, he finds himself talking about everything from the sublime to the ordinary, eloquently depicting life in England in Jack's very own inimitable way.
Boasting eleven tracks on 'All Night Cinema', the lead single and first track 'Embers' sets the tone for the album. 'Embers' is enforced by multi-layered sounds and strings, which enhance the sentiments and lyrics of 'Embers' beautifully.
'All Night Cinema' conjures and creates its very own tale on each track, and musically dazzles. From '253' – a late night bus journey fused with a Van Morrison-esque harmonica hook, to 'The Day I Died' – a beautifully reflective stripped down track, with a shimmering melody and cultural snapshots of everyday life. 'Doctor Doctor' is another album highlight, reminding us of why Jack earned himself a top position as one of Britain's cutting edge, new artists.

A Total Waste of Talent
2 September, 2009
I remember Just Jack's first album, the mainly overlooked "The Outer Marker", and I can remember the day that I saw it going for 99p in the bargain bin of another record store. The fact that it was in there was blasphemous, and I bought all 4 copies of the album to hand out to friends I knew would appreciate the depth of lyrics and the fine, sometimes melancholic production. It is still in my all time favourite 5 albums. Tunes such as "Triple Tone Eyes", "Snowflakes" and "Heartburn" were absolutely outstanding. Enough said of the first album though. When "Overtones" came out, I bought it on the release date, and whilst extremely cheesy, I was not totally disappointed. This latest endeavour, however, is a total waste of talent. I'm not sure if the people behind him are trying to mold him into something he is not, but this is utter tripe. The recent revical in 80's influenced electro-pop has become annoying to say the least and I'm sorry to write that Just Jack is another who has jumped onto this already tired bandwagon. I can appreciate the commercial success that is needed to ensure future record deals, but please Jack, stick to the original formula. It might not have been as commercially successful, but the integrity and respect that he received was a true credit to his abilities. If you are interested in buying this album, don't, instead try to track down his first album and enjoy a truly inspired and unique piece of work.

I would recommend this to you, guys. This is a truly great album. Most songs were bit of growers bit when it grows on you, it becomes gold.
The lyrics are great and the music satisfies! Must hear it.

He's the best producer for urban music with his explicit words but mostly its kind of techno-pop mixed with jazz and rap. I think he can sing and rap but he's the best person for mixtures of urban music.
