product details & reviews
'Sunny Side Up' is the second album from Scottish singer/songwriter Paulo Nutini. Along with his band The Vipers, Nutini creates a sound that blends the groove and feel of soul with the emotion and passion of folk, all of which pulled together by brilliant vocal work. It is also notable that Ethan Johns (Kings Of Leon, Turin Brakes) contributed some mixing and producing for 'Sunny Side Up', which includes single 'Candy'.

Paolo Nutini returns with his addictive new album 'Sunny Side Up'. The new single written by Paolo Nutini and produced by Paolo and Ethan Johns (Kings of Leon, Ryan Adams) is the perfect introduction to Paolo's new record. His mesmerising and inimitable voice has never sounded better and this is portrayed to its full extent on 'Candy' – an exquisite and poignant song. The track is available on CD and download. It's still hard to believe that Paolo is only 22-years-old. Paolo showcases his lyrical prowess throughout 'Sunny Side Up' and has struck a fine balance with upbeat, rejoiceful songs that carry a true emotional heft.
- The Guardian - "A remarkably mature 22-year old - check out his heartfelt, countryish form on 'Simple Things' - Nutini has proved there's more to him than good looks"
The Times - "If 'Worried Man' was discovered on an obscure album by some ancient troubadour, collectors would be scratching each others beards out to get hold of it"
The Telegraph - "...an eccentric blast, like some obscure lost classic from the Seventies"

Singer-songwriter Paolo Nutini is an enigma, anomaly, or something else entirely. The Scotsman with the Italian name lets loose a voice which sounds like it's echoing out of the Gulf of Mississippi halfway between Mobile and Montego Bay. His 2009 sophomore album, SUNNY SIDE UP, ups the disconnect ante with a timeless tone which seems to gather up more styles from the nexus of the 1960s and `70s than is sonically possible. At different times on this enchanting record, and often even within the same song, Nutini can conjure up Wilson Pickett, Jimmy Cliff, James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, and the list goes on ad infinitum. However, the echoes of his contemporaries like Mayer and Mraz remain on an affable affair of an LP.
