A debut 59 years in the making, the Fron Male Voice Choir were formed in 1947 and have an average age of 60 years old. The most unlikely boy band in the world have produced a beautifully emotive album which appeals to young and old alike. In keeping with Welsh tradition, the collective produce a huge, joyous sound, breathing new life into traditional standards such as 'Abide With Me' and 'Jerusalem' as well as performances of their own takes on modern classics including 'You'll Never Walk Alone' and 'Unchained Melody'.

Nearly 60 years on, it's finally time for the debut album. If you thought the Rolling Stones had a rather advanced combined age, they've got nothing – and we mean 'nothing' – on this lot. The 60-strong Fron Male Voice Choir, with members ranging from 18 to 85, has a combined age of 3974 – that's an awful lot of experience to pack into their rehearsal space in the tiny North Wales village of Froncysyllte.
After 59 years of amateur status, they've signed to a major label, thanks to the guidance of Blue's former manager Daniel Glatman who heard them sing at a friend's wedding. Voices Of The Valleys is the debut album almost six decades in the waiting, the chaps' voices stirring on the likes of Jerusalem, Abide With Me and Shenandoah. More contemporary material comes in the form of Sailing, You'll Never Walk Alone and Unchained Melody, but the highlight is – unsurprisingly – a rousing reading of Land Of My Fathers. - HMV Choice
