product details & reviews
'Years Of Refusal' is the tenth album from iconic indie legend Morrissey. The former Smiths frontman teams up again with the late producer Jerry Finn ('You Are The Quarry', 'Ringleader Of The Tormented') resulting in an album more urgent and intimate than the last. Raw and fresh, 'Years Of Refusal' has a spiky punk-esque energy running through it, further illustrating Morrissey's formidable talent. The singles, 'All You Need Is Me' and 'That's How People Grow Up' is included.

Mozzer returns in February with his latest studio album 'Years Of Refusal'. More details as we get them...
- Rolling Stone (p.64) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "His ninth album, YEARS OF REFUSAL, stares down existential dread with muscular glam-rock riffs, cheesy synths, heroic mariachi flourishes and a whole lot of punch lines."
Spin (p.85) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "YEARS OF REFUSAL thunders with noise-rock bass lines, enormous drums, and big swaths of guitar distortion."
Entertainment Weekly (p.67) - "It's a surprisingly muscular set of punked-up Brit-pop, spiked with the singer's still-dripping scorn..." -- Grade: B+
Mojo (Publisher) (p.104) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "'Mama Lay Softly On The Riverbed' has a delightful pop-classicist chorus, a staircase melody breathing poignancy into the words."
Blender (Magazine) (p.63) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "'I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris' is a beautiful testament to his greatest theme, interminable loneliness."
Clash (magazine) (p.98) - "^B]rilliant....The lyrical dexterity and poetical prowess of the man, fifty this year, has yet to wane nor become diluted with age."

The 1987 break-up of the Smiths saddened legions of fans, but it led to a fruitful solo career for lead singer and lyricist Morrissey. The Smiths were very much a singles band, and VIVA HATE, Morrissey's first record, continued in the Smiths vein with the gloriously sad singles "Suedehead" and "Every Day Is Like Sunday". As Morrissey soldiered on, he began to develop more of an individual style, although he never lost the elements of high drama and challenging pop that came together in the Smiths.
