NINJA SCROLL director Yoshiaki Kawajiri melds the beauty of anime with the Highlander legacy in this film that spans centuries. Driven by revenge and justice, Colin MacLeod hunts for the man responsible for the death of his love. He chases the immortal Marcus Octavius across centuries as his quest threatens to take over his life and heart. In his quest, he meets a woman who reminds him of his slain beauty. But it's his final battle with Marcus that will decide not only his fate, but also the fate of everyone in the world.

A one thousand year quest is about to end and the patience of one immortal man who has endured loss and pain for a millennium is about to be rewarded…
A lone warrior, Colin MacLeod has travelled through the ages, endlessly searching for a fellow immortal, Marcus Octavius, the man responsible for killing his lover, Moya, on the Celtic plains tens of centuries ago. His journey has taken him to a post-apocalyptic New York in the year 2187, the city now a partly submerged ruin overshadowed by a vast monolithic fortress. Ruling what is left of the once proud metropolis is none other than Marcus Octavius, whose despotic plans for the future include the mass murder of the city's populace. MacLeod has the power to save the survivors, but driven by a blinding bloodlust, he has only one goal – to avenge the murder of Moya. After countless encounters with each other on the bloody battlefields of history, neither MacLeod nor Octavius has managed to emerge victorious. Will the remnants of New York prove to be the final battleground as these two immortals once again come face to face?

This is an excellent addition to the Highlander series and features some stunning anime. I found this film had a lot of similarities to the original Highlander film. All the usual quickenings, flashbacks, decapitations and lovely ladies are here in abundance. To fit with the anime style they've thrown in a spirit who talks through animals which works fine for me but is a little outside the traditonal Highlander themes, but thinking on it Ramirez did talk to Connor as a spirit...
Watch out for Doc who is voiced by none other than Jim Byrnes who played Joe Dawson in the TV series.
