The biohazard threat has not ended: Just when it seemed that the menace of Resident Evil had been destroyed, along comes a new terror to send shivers down player's spines. Chris Redfield, returning Resident Evil hero, has followed the path of the evil literally around the globe. After joining a new organization, Chris heads to Africa where the latest bioterrorism threat is literally transforming the people and animals of the city into mindless, maddened creatures.
Chris must take on the challenge of discovering the truth behind this evil plot. In 'Resident Evil 5', Capcom will teach players to fear the daylight as much as they have feared shadow in previous games.
Featuring an unprecedented level of fear for the next generation, 'Resident Evil 5' promises to revolutionize the series by delivering an unbelievable level of detail, realism and control. New technology developed specifically for the game, as well as incredible changes to both the gameplay and world of Resident Evil will make this a must-have game for gamers across the globe.
Key Features
- Chris Redfield, protagonist of the original Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Code Veronica, returns
- Chris is joined by new character Sheva Alomar, an African special agent tasked with investigating the epidemic
- 2 player co-op online gameplay means that players are not alone in their fight against the horror lurking around every corner
- New enemies bring new challenges: speed and intelligence make adversaries as dangerous singly as they are in groups.
- An arsenal of weapons at the player's command to keep the evil at bay, including knives, pistols, machine guns, sniper rifles and more.
- Lighting effects provide a new level of suspense in both harsh light and deepest shadow
- True high definition gaming on multiple game platforms, using an advanced version of Capcom's proprietary game engine, MT Framework, which powered the next-gen, million-plus hit titles Devil May Cry 4, Lost Planet and Dead Rising.

Fifth time not lucky

i never thought i would regret buying a resident evil game, and i feel bad for saying that, but i really wish i hadn't bought resi 5. It just doesn't feel like a resident evil game, it feels like a bland shoot-em up with zombies in it. I wanted this to be more like resident evil 2, one of the bests games ever, but it just wasn't happening. That having been said, the caliber of the graphics is excellent, and it'll keep you entertained for a week or so. But for someone like me who has followed the franchise since it's debut, this game is a real disappointment.

Not all it's cracked up to be...
22 March, 2009
I was so excited to play RE5 (I am a die-hard RE fan) I even bought a console to play it on (only owned a PS2) but it's not as great as I hoped it would be =/ but there are good points too! just read on:
Good Points:
* Stunning and breath taking graphics!
* Great voice actors as usual
* Online play is absolute fun especially when it's just a random person who joins your game at a checkpoint.
* No more looking for a save point! (although I do miss the old typewriters) autosaving is something I really like in this game.
* Generally it's a good game (but as a main Resident Evil game it's a bit disappointing.)
* The quicktime events aren't as irritating as they were in RE4 (you can skip parts of the cutscenes so if you die you don't have to watch it all again)
Bad Points:
* Not scary in the slightest
* Very predictable gameplay i.e you know that as soon as you turn the corner something's gonna run at you. Also very predictable storyline.
* The later chapters in the ruins seemed like I was playing Tomb Raider rather than RE5.
* Very Short.. 8hours to complete on initial play through! and that was on hard (veteran) mode
* Far too easy to get the trophies! This is my first PS3 game and I've got nearly all the trophies (missing one) I hope other PS3 games are a better challange
* The 2nd character is annoying when not playing with another human being ... the A.I is dire (running into bosses attacks, running into my grenades, getting in the way of shots etc.)
* The only bonus game you unlock is "the mercenaries" the same as in RE4 just obviously set in RE5, was hoping for something different this time round
* Too much ammo around I liked the good old days when you had to watch how many bullets you used now I have hordes of it as well as green herbs! also being able to buy as many first aid sprays just takes away the survival aspect! and being able to buy a rocket launcher so easily =S
* Generally too easy to figure out what to do not difficult to find all the treasures or the BSAA emblems.
* Same old bad guy Wesker, he better not be brought back for next game (if they do one!)
Overall I'd say wait till the price has come down a bit! It is worth playing but not at the current price! I hope you found my review helpful =]

BEST GAME OF 2009
21 March, 2009
The gameplay along with the storyline is the best yet from CAPCOM, including the stunning graphics!!!
As the producer stated they are now taking this game into a new Chapter as you can probably tell with more action and less horror!
Finally they game outsold the U2 album and the top 5 of the uk movies combined!
Welcome to the new era of GAMING!.
