product details & reviews
'Skybound' is the second album from London based singer/songwriter Tom Baxter. Co-produced by Jeremy Stacey (Sheryl Crow, Nerina Pallot) the album sees Baxter continue with the laidback easy listening pop of his debut while this time incorporating Spanish influences into his sound. The single 'Better' which featured in the Simon Pegg/David Schwimmer movie Run, Fat Boy, Run is included.

Perfect production.

This is simply one beautiful piece of work from the multi talented Tom Baxter. Beautifully produced, an eclectic mix of mournful ballads and guitar salsa frenzied crescendos. Rich in melody and lyrically stunning. Brilliant work.

Well-crafted, thoughtful and intelligent
1 June, 2008
Suffolk-born former artist-in-residence at the Kings Head in Bungay, Skybound is Tom Baxter‘s sophomore offering, and follows the much appreciated Feather and Stone from 2004.
One of a crop of emerging singer-songwriters such as Ed Harcourt, Tom McRae, Jack Johnson and Willy Mason we have here a collection of songs that should appeal to anyone with heart.
Unashamedly romantic, yet maintaining a maturity in both lyrics and sound this album should interest both men and women alike. Adept use of strings, piano and double bass provides a perfect canvas for Tom’s guitar and vocal range, yet maintains the intimate feel that engages with a captivating charm and fascination.
The listener is skilfully treated to a measured selection of jazz, blues, latin-american and spanish nuances that complement the themes and rhythms. From opening song A Night Like This, via title track Skybound, to the single Better (which you may have heard from the soundtrack of film Run, Fat Boy, Run) to the emotional Tell Her Today, and on through to Icarus Wings I found it difficult to pick out a favourite.
Tom’s own artwork provides a distinct image to accompany the words for each song, providing a further perspective on the creations of this talented artist and enhancing the soulful and reflective, nevertheless positive experience that is on offer here.
On this evidence Mr.Baxter could indeed be Skybound. Well-crafted, thoughtful and intelligent. A true delight.
