product details & reviews
Based on Cecilia Ahern's novel, P.S. I LOVE YOU stars Oscar winner Hilary Swank (MILLION DOLLAR BABY) as a broken-hearted widow. After the death of her husband, she discovers a series of letters from him that help her in her grief.
May 2008
Adapted from the novel by Cecelia Ahern P.S. I Love You stars Hilary Swank, Gerard Butler and Kathy Bates in this charming and heart warming tale about love.
Holly Kennedy (Hilary Swank) is beautifual, smart and married to the love of her life - a passionate, funny and impetuous irishman named Gerry (Gerard Butler). So when Gerry's life is taken by an illness, it takes the life out of Holly. The only one who can help her is the person who is no longer there. Nobody knows Holly better than Gerry. So it's a good thing he planned ahead!
Before he died, Gerry wrote Holly a series of letters that will guide her, not only through her grief but in rediscovering herself. The first message arrives on Holly's 30th birthday in the form of a cake, and to her utter shock, a tape recording from Gerry, who proceeds to order her to 'get out and celebrate herself!' In the weeks and months that follow, more letters from Gerry are delivered, each sending her on a new adventure and each signing off in the same way: P.S. I Love You!
- Ms. Swank's ardent sincerity and naked emotionalism dovetail nicely with Mr. LaGravenese's melodramatic excesses: Together the director and his star create a swell of feeling that helps blunt your reservations about being played as an easy mark, a sap or, worse, a girl, even if that's exactly what you are - New York Times

Great Film
9 January, 2010
this film is for the girls I would say, watched it with my partner and he didnt really like it. Its about 2 childhood sweethearts Holly and Gerry, who no-one could imagine them apart, sadly early on in this film you guessed someone dies, and the heart warming tale is Gerry then goes on to leave Holly 1 letter a month, because she is so heartbroken when he dies, she doesnt know how to spend the rest of her life, lucky Gerry paves the way by directing her through the bad patch. Teary film great dvd must have in your dvd collection.
