product details & reviews
Aliens with nice faces and reptilian habits descend over the earth bringing a new and menacing world order with them in this landmark television miniseries. Sixty-five million viewers reportedly viewed the original broadcast. Disguised to look just like humans, the aliens are actually lizard-like creatures out to strip the planet of its water supply and turn humans into food. Although most people are fooled by the visitors and allow the planet to be taken over by the fascist monsters, a group of resistance fighters try to defeat these creatures. Helping the underground movement is a journalist (Marc Singer) who figures out just what the aliens are up to.

They came for water. They came for food, it turned out we were the food. Humanity bravely resisted - a struggle seen in the hit miniseries V and V: The Final Battle. Yet the war continues. The heroic conflict comes to a surprising outcome in V: The Series, presented complete and uncut in this 19-episode set. Once again, Earth is the main battleground. But now the aliens whose human guise hides their true reptilian natures are wiser. They believe the secret to their survival on Earth lies in the DNA of the newly born half-human, half-spaceling Starchild. They intend to capture her. But that's something the world's Resistance Fighters cannot allow.

Blast from the past
19 August, 2008
Although it may be said that the original 2 DVD releases of V were better than this 5 disc TV series. For all those lovers of nostalga or Sci-Fi fans this is a must. To see Robert Englund before he become famous as Freddy Kruger and the ending that is so infurating that it miust be seen. The fact that even the ameericans never thought that V would be a hit and cancelled it after this 1 and only series and then fans complained is some indication of just how engrossing the storyline was and even can rival some of todays more popular soap opers.

Nowhere near as thrilling as the original series.

Fast approaching 30 and being a V lover since my childhood - I bought this boxset purely cos it has the title V. It bears no comparison in relation to the original Mini-Series and The Final Battle. The Original Mini-Series is by far the best, however, I did kinda like the direction The Final Battle took the series. This boxset is more like a soap opera with the lead female character getting big hair, shoulder-pads and over the top make up - classically in line with the 80's soaps such as Dallas and Dynasty. I would highly recommend purchasing this boxset only after purchasing and thoroughly watching the original Mini-Series and then Final Battle. You may not even bother with this boxset then. LOL
