When Dr. Peter Venkman (Bill Murrary) and his Columbia University colleagues (Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson) are kicked out of their prestigious academic posts, they start a private practice as professional ghost-catchers. Although the three parascientists are idle for awhile, their television advertisements finally pay off when beautiful Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver) contracts them. It seems her apartment has become the entryway for ghastly ghosts and goofy ghouls hellbent on terroriSing New York City. Soon they're going to her rescue, trying to rid the city of the slimy creatures. GHOSTBUSTERS hit US screens in June of 1984 and went on to become one of the most successful comedy films of all time, spawning a sequel and a popular animated series.

If your looking for a classic 80's movie then look no further, but if your looking for a movie to show off your blu ray player than avoid this at all costs. I was stunned at how poor the transfer is considering there are far older movies being released with much better picture. The library scene was grainy and dark as was most of the rest of it. There are some good scenes that you can tell have been worked on but in the end it feels like a rushed job to be released in time with the game. Sad as it could have been great!

This is one of my favourite ever films, and i'm a true movie fan. As a childhood fave i was hoping for the WOW factor when watching this on Blu-Ray. I was disspointed. Although the original film was clear, though grainy, the amount of noise on the blu-ray is just too much. It really spoils your viewing and after only 15 mins turned it off.
On the other hand, the extras are great, and there are some new ones over the old DVD copies of this film. To be quite truthfull, it is a great deal clearer than the DVD version, but not when upscalling from DVD to 1080i is tried. If your a true fan, then i still think its a must, but if your just looking to add to your Blu-Ray collection, then i'd skip this one and stick to your upscalled DVD.

Ghostbusters features some of the most iconic comedians of the 80`s & remains an outrageously funny movie with great effects. The Blu-ray picture offers good detail & superior audio over previous versions. However, it displays some of the heaviest grain I have ever seen on an HD disc. Anyone expecting a state of the art visual experience will be very disappointed. Most of the extras have been seen on the standard def 2 disc DVD release, so don`t expect anything original there either. If you want this movie for it`s unsurpassed comedic greatness, ignore the rough round the edges picture quality & buy it.
