product details & reviews
Third album, following 2006's 'Under The Iron Sea', from the hugely successful Brit pop-rock stars whose piano-led, emotive and melancholy songs have placed them in the same bracket as fellow travellers Coldplay and Snow Patrol. On 'Perfect Symmetry' they take some chances with their sound, experimenting with synthesizers and more aggressive beats such as those to be heard on the 80s-influenced, free download single 'Spiralling'.
Aug 2008
Keane return with their third album, 'Perfect Symmetry'. Produced by Stuart Price, the creation of the album first started out in Paris with Jon Brion.
We took the night train to Berlin, where everything came together in an avalanche of experimentation that took us all by surprise; where we made a pact with Stuart Price to ignore the rules of good taste; where we were hypnotised by Marlene Dietrich and spent many a long night throwing ideas around in the crumbling Cabaret-esque glamour of our favourite bar.

Brilliant!
22 March, 2009
This album is simply brilliant, Tom's vocals are never anything but spot on. After seeing them in comcert and listening again to this album i can honestly say there are songs that make the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. If you haven't bought this album yet i highly recommend you do, you'll not regret it.

15 November, 2008
well you can never say keane are bland, as a 43 year old male youve got to take your hat off to the lads from Battle, they never let you down, Toms vocals and Tims lyrics complement eachother perfectly. and whether youre a teenager or middle aged man you cant deny the lads always deliver classics. keep it up boys! x x

NOT AS TOTALLY BRILLIANT AS HOPES & FEARS BUT SOME EXCELLENT TRACKS
4 November, 2008
On first listen the first 4 tracks seem nothing special until you get to the title track 'Perfect Symmetry' which is absolutely beautiful and so powerful. This is followed by 'You Don't See Me' which is another beautiful song with Keane's wonderful trademark tinkling piano. The third brilliant song is track 10 'Black Burning Heart', another powerful up-tempo number, and the album rounded off with the very laid-back, cool and pretty 'Love is the End'. I found that, although I wasn't keen (excuse the pun) on Spiralling, The Lovers Are Losing and You Haven't Told Me Anything at first, they have grown on me with subsequent listens, and 'Again & Again' is good solid Keane fare. The only tracks that don't do it for me are Better Than This which is too quirky and sounds more like David Bowie than Keane, Playing Along which is just too repetitive and lethargic and Pretend That You're Alone which, although having clever lyrics, is just too quirky for me. So 3 brilliant tracks, 5 good strong ones and 3 not so good, 8 out of 11. I'm seeing Keane at the O2 in Feb 09 and am really looking forward to it!

British trio Keane, who trade in the sort of grandiose, melancholy Britpop that was the chief domain of Coldplay for much of the early 2000s, broke big with their 2004 debut album, HOPES AND FEARS. While many hear the band's sound as yet another watered-down version of Radiohead, the guitar-less ensemble's anthems of heartache and self-doubt ring with a buoyancy that calls to mind pop songwriters like Billy Joel and Elton John, thanks in part to the band's infectious piano-based melodies.
