product details & reviews
Following on from their critically acclaimed debut, 'Astronomy For Dogs', The Aliens' second full length album, 'Luna', is more experimental than its predecessor. Ten minute prog-rock epics interspersed with Gregorian chanting and trip hop beats make 'Luna' a very eclectic listen, although the quality of the songs consistently shines through. 'Luna' contains the single 'Magic Man'.

The Aliens make a welcome return in September with a brand new album on their own Pet Rock Records label. Entitled 'Luna', it picks up where their astounding 2007 debut 'Astronomy For Dogs' left off, and sees the band continuing to explore the outer limits of sunshine pop, psychedelic rock and acid dipped electronics.
- Mojo (Publisher) (p.109) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "^LUNA] keeps the faith, beginning with 'Bobby's Song,' a 10-minute trawl through every paisley-patterned '60s psych trick, embracing proggy pyrotechnics, sunshine pop and accordion hoedowns."

Not as pop as the first album, other than the single 'magic man'. If you loved the pretentiousnes of the first album then this is a must, if you loved the popiness of the first then this isnt for you. 8, might as well buy it and find out instead of reading peoples pointlesssss opinions.

Scottish indie outfit, The Aliens, were formed from the ashes of the Beta Band by Robin Jones and John Maclean who co-opted Gordon Anderson--who had recorded under the name Lone Pigeon--to form the new band. Anderson had been a founder member of the Beta Band, unfortunately he'd been forced to leave the band due to illness. Fit and well again, Anderson, alongside his 'new' colleagues set to work on the album, ASTRONOMY FOR DOGS. The album's skilful mix of psychedelic rock and trippy electronics was met with universal critical acclaim on it's release in March 2007.
