Store Returns Policy
We will exchange most items purchased in error or unwanted gifts provided that they are returned within 21 days in perfect condition accompanied by a receipt.
All goods must include original packaging. We are unable to accept items that have been previously exchanged or multiple returns.
This does not affect your statutory rights.
In the unfortunate event that you should discover a fault with an item you have purchased; we will offer a replacement copy or refund if you prefer. We ask that you return the product within a reasonable time frame after its purchase date. Please be aware that hmv will only take back faulty products that contain a genuine manufacturing fault, accompanied with a receipt. We cannot be held responsible for accidental damage or misuse caused by the customer. In respect of exceptions to the policy, please read below.

Food and Beverages
Food and Beverages are not returnable unless a qualitative issue is discovered.
hmv Live Shops
We have a number of Venues across the country that will on occasion offer items for sale. We also offer bespoke retailing for events for example, The Ideal Home Show and Eurogamer events. Due to the unique range of product that are offered in these locations they are unable to accept items for exchange that were not been originally purchased at an hmv live shop location. Items purchased from one of our Live shops can however be exchanged at any hmv UK store location.
Smartbox
Once a Smartbox has been purchased and activated in store at point of purchase these are non-exchangeable product.
Mobile phone top ups
Mobile phone top ups once purchased are not exchangeable items.
Information
Clothing/fashion All Clothing and Fashion items fall under our 21-day exchange policy. Items need to be returned to us unworn and with tags still attached.
Headphones In the interest of hygiene hmv will be unable to exchange or refund any headphones that have been opened and used, unless they are proven faulty.
PC games hmv will be unable to exchange or refund unwanted PC games that have been opened, unless they are proven faulty. Once a PC game has been opened we have no assurance that the game has not been installed.
Technology Returns We will exchange any unwanted technology product provided it is returned unopened within 21 days in perfect condition accompanied by a receipt. Should your technology product develop a fault or prove defective within 1 year of its date of purchase, we will happily offer you a like-for-like exchange.
We ask that all technology returns are accompanied with a valid receipt with all accompanying parts i.e. accessories, manuals, cables, batteries etc.
If you are returning a faulty technology product that was purchased as part of a bundle, then we ask that you return all additional items that came as part of that bundle.
Technology products include but are not limited to: Pay-as-you-go mobile phones; Pay-as-you-go SIMS; MP3 players; Speaker docks; Consoles; Gadgets.
