product details & reviews
This fifth album by the Chicagoan hardcore quartet is the follow-up to 2006's 'The Sufferer And The Witness' and is their third for Geffen. Notable as one of the few modern hardcore bands who did not significantly change their sound after signing to a major, their music remains raw, confrontational, belligerent and steeped in revolutionary leftist politics, but retains a strong streak of melody which has contributed in no small part to their popularity, not least on the chilling protest song 'Hero Of War'.

This is a great album from Rise, their latest one. If you are into this kind of music give it a listen and i'm sure you will find, as i have, each track is an enjoyable as the last. With its catchy lyrics, guitar riffs and unique style that Rise Against bring, what can not be loved about it!

After the breakup, in the late 1990s, of Chicago hardcore band 88 Fingers Louie, bassist/vocalist Joe Principe formed Rise Against, a similarly melodic outfit that balances angst, punk politics, and post-grunge hooks, reflecting the multi-faceted nature of the Chicago hardcore scene. After two well-received albums on Fat Wreck Chords and hundreds of thrilling live shows, the band landed a major label deal and continued to attract a larger fanbase. Their 2006 album charted at #10 on the Billboard 200, and the band's music has shown up in films, on TV, and in video games, but, true to their name, Rise Against continues to uphold a David-vs.-Goliath punk ethos that includes endorsing PETA and other animal rights and vegan concerns.
