'Death By Sexy' is the second album from Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme's Eagles Of Death Metal. The album sees the band continue with the unique brand of alternative garage rock that graced their 2004 debut 'Peace Love Death Metal'. The album also includes a whole host of guest appearances from the likes of The Distillers' Brody Dalle, Dave Grohl, Mark Lanegan and comedian Jack Black.

After the Eagles Of Death Metal's first album, 'Peace Love Death Metal' was crowned the "greatest boogie record of all time" by rockers worldwide, no one knew just how the hell they could top it. But what were THEY thinking? The Dream Boys always bring da neck-lickin, boot-scootin’, soul-scratchin’, ass-shakin party tunes that never disappoint.
And now the dynamic duo is back! Jesse "the Devil" Hughes has returned from a religious dance monastery as a master. After hearing his falsetto unforgetto and seeing that boy slang guitar, the funk monks gave him a new name, BOOTS ELECTRIC! It illuminates power and gives pleasure to all who gaze upon his moustache of mystery. And matching stride for sexy stride with Boots Electric is the groove pocket cyborg, Baby Duck (formerly Carlo Von Sexron, aka Joshua Homme). Your ears will orgasm with every glorious groove that Baby Duck pounds into your boom box. His drumsticks are like sexual dyn-o-mite and they came to make a bang! The dream boys have reached a verdict and delivered a sentence to all who try and judge this thing called rock 'n' roll, imprison its hook-filled fun, and limit its sweet, sweet touch to solitary confinement. And that sentence is 'Death By Sexy'!
This Joshua Homme-produced album sounds exactly the way God intended live rock 'n' roll to sound: raw, sleazy, and spiffy. It was completed in just 12 days - recorded at world famous Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, California and mixed at Eleven AD studios by Alain Johannes and Joshua Homme. This album is more hook-laden than your old job at the bait shop, whether the effervescent and infectious 'Cherry Cola' and 'I Want You So Hard (Boy's Bad News)' or the sultry and slithering 'I Like To Move In The Night' or the country-esque jams 'Solid Gold' and 'Chase The Devil'. Or if you feel like struttin', you simply could do no better than 'I Gotta Feelin (Just 19)' or 'Shasta Beast'.

It's possible that, if Josh Homme (of the widely touted Queens of the Stone Age) wasn't in the Eagles of Death Metal, nobody would pay the band much mind. That's because EoDM's off- the-cuff sound is reminiscent of two stoner high-school buddies getting together in the garage to lay down some heavy rock tunes... dude. And, in fact, that's exactly what this is, but luckily one of those high-school buddies is in fact Homme (the other is frontman Jesse Hughes), and people do pay attention.
DEATH BY SEXY, the duo's second effort, is steeped in classic rock, particularly the 1970s FM sounds of Kiss, T. Rex, Alice Cooper, and the like. Riffalicious licks and pounding drums are the primary ingredients, and with song titles like "Cherry Cola" and "I Like to Move in the Night," it's clear the EoDM have one foot planted firmly in teenage rock-&-roll fantasia. A goofy sense of fun pervades the disc, and while it's hard to take seriously, it's also hard not to enjoy.
The straight-up, good-times rock played by the Eagles of Death Metal could have easily slipped through the cracks if not for two major factors: the band's drummer is Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme, and the songs really are quite good. Homme and co-conspirator Jesse Hughes definitely have their tongues in their cheeks from time to time, but as the band surely understands (as evidenced by the title of its 2006 full-length, DEATH BY SEXY), you can't have fun playing glittery boogie-metal if you're taking yourself too seriously.
