product details & reviews
Third album from Wakefield's finest exports, The Cribs. A more polished effort than their previous two albums, but if anything the production work from Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos only serves to highlight the songwriting abilities of the band. Includes the singles 'Men's Needs', 'Moving Pictures' and 'Our Bovine Public'.
Mar 2007
The Cribs return to the fray with their third longplayer, 'Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever'. The album heralds a new chapter in the life of the band which has witnessed the brothers Jarman emerge from the success of their previous album 'The New Fellas' and the subsequent chart action that ensued with the singles that accompanied it, particularly the pop nous of 'Hey Scenesters', 'Mirror Kissers' et al which propelled the band into previously uncharted territories.
2006 saw the band back-peddle into the background concentrating on writing new material and cherry picking who they wanted to work with and to that end they entered a studio in Vancouver late last year with Alex Kapranos (Franz Ferdinand) who as well as being on the "same wavelength" also loved the new songs, the resultant recordings have those in the know slobbering in anticipation and will undoubtedly see The Cribs raise their benchmark yet again.

Yorkshire, indie-trio, the Cribs, were formed by twin brothers Gary and Ryan Jarman and their younger brother Ross. Releasing their self-titled debut album in 2004, the trio toured with like-minded bands, Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs, but failed to have the hit to push them into the mainstream. The 2005 follow-up, THE NEW FELLAS--another raucous collection of pop-punk--spawned two top 30 singles, "Hey Scenesters" and "Mirror Kissers". Teaming up with Franz Ferdinand frontman, Alex Kapranos, in the role of producer, for the third full-length. 2007s superbly titled MEN'S NEEDS WOMEN'S NEEDS WHATEVER was a much glossier production. With a heavy schedule of touring to support the release of the album, the Cribs clearly had one eye catching up with their one-time touring partners.
