The movie is the follow-up to 2014's The Equalizer, a big-screen reboot of the action-packed TV series. It took a hearty $193 million in 2014 and we get a second helping later this year.
Washington returns to play Robert McCall, a retired CIA black ops operative who lives quietly in Boston, Massachusetts, only to be dragged out of retirement again and away from his life of solitude.
In the new movie, McCall has shaken off the quiet life and now uses his skills to help people in need, skills which are tested to the limit when his old friend Susan is kidnapped.
Starring alongside Washington are Pedro Pascal, Ashton Sanders, Bill Pullman and Melissa Leo, while Antoine Fuqua returns to direct.
