Thor and Game Of Thrones director Alan Taylor to take charge of Sopranos prequel movie

The prequel, which will be released as a feature film, is to be titled The Many Saints Of Newark.

Alan Taylor, director of Thor: The Dark World and Terminator: Genisys, will take charge of David Chase's new prequel to The Sopranos

The prequel, which will be released as a feature film, is to be titled The Many Saints Of Newark. 

The film will take place in the 1960s, when riots swept through Newark, New Jersey and conflicts between African-American and Italian residents were at their worst.

Though it's not confirmed as yet, several characters from The Sopranos are expected to appear in the film,

The Sopranos ran for six seasons, from 1999 to 2007 and followed fictional New Jersey mobster Tony Soprano as he deals with personal and professional issues in his home and business life. 

Taylor, who has also directed a number of episodes of Game Of Thrones, has history with The Sopranos. He has directed episodes of The Sopranos in four of the show’s six seasons.
