The South Korean pop juggernaut return this week with new EP Map of the Soul: Persona and here is everything you need to know about it...

A little background…

A lot has happened to Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook over the last few months. Though they’ve been superstars in their native South Korea for some time now, they remained a curiosity in most of the Western world under early 2018.

Though a combination of hit singles and a gruelling world tour, the seven-piece boyband have grown into the kind of act that can fill two nights at Wembley Stadium and sell out football enormodomes across America.

Keen to keep up the pace, they’re now back with Map of the Soul: Persona, a new seven-track EP.

Who’s producing it?

Among the writers and producers are former X-Factor contestant Ryan Lawrie, who has penned 'Mikrokosmos', British dance production duo Arcades, whose credits include Ellie Goulding and Conor Maynard, rising UK star Marcus McCoan and the enigmatic producer Bad Milk. There's also a contribution from a certain Mr. Ed Sheeran...

Any special guests?

Just the one. Halsey, who assists the pop collective on a track titled ‘Boy With Luv’.

What does it sound like?

This EP sees the boyband spanning the genres. There's hip-hop, trap, R&B as well as plenty of the bubblegum pop they've made their name from.

Does it deliver?

If you’ve been hooked by BTS over the last few months, then you’ll be in heaven with this new one. It’s bright, colourful and full of the insanely catchy choruses they’ve become famous for.

BTS’s new EP Map of the Soul: Persona will be available in hmv stores from 10am on Friday (April 12th).
