CAM Sugar and Decca Records France are proud to present the first complete edition of cult score 'La Scoumoune' by Francois de Roubaix, supplemented by many previously unreleased tracks, demos, and alternate takes. This release also features new remixes by Alessandro Baldessari, Jean-Michel Bernard, and Benjamin de Roubaix, the composer's son. Retro thriller 'La Scoumoune', with Jean-Paul Belmondo, stands out as an Everest of electronic music in cinema. It is one of the objective masterpieces by Francois de Roubaix, pioneer, experimenter, and genius tinkerer. Creating this unique score, de Roubaix recorded himself on each track with a different instrument. At the request of filmmaker Jose Giovanni, de Roubaix found connections between the barrel organ and synthesizers, complemented by unusual effects from rattles, files, and springs. The theme of 'La Scoumoune' would emancipate itself from the film, living its own life as a jingle or advertising tune, and regularly sampled by artists from the new world, rappers, and DJs. This complete version of 'La Scoumoune' celebrates the innovative and instinctive genius of Francois de Roubaix, marking the 50th anniversary of his passing.
