Why buy vinyl records?

Vinyl records are arguably the ultimate way to experience music. They are analogue recordings that capture the entire soundwave, unlike digital files that capture just part of the sound wave at periodic intervals. This is what helps records deliver their characteristic warm and authentic sound, which lets you appreciate all the subtle nuances and depth of the music.

But vinyl records aren't just worth buying for their unique sound quality. Album covers are often incredible, sometimes collectible, pieces of art. You can frame your favourite LP covers and hang them on your walls, showing off your love for music in bold fashion. Enhancing your music experience and home aesthetic at the same time, it's no wonder vinyl records are as popular now as they have been since the late 1980s.

What types of vinyl records are for sale?

We have a wide range of vinyl records for sale, so it's easy for you to find something special to add to your collection. Read on to learn more about the main types of vinyl records you can expect to find on this page.

12" vinyl records

This is the largest and most common type of record on the market today. Each side of a 12-inch vinyl record typically holds 20 minutes of audio at 33 rpm, making them most suitable for full-length albums (also known as LPs).

7" vinyl records

Typically running at 45 rpm, 7-inch vinyl records are also sometimes referred to as "45s". Most popular during the 1950s and 1960s, 7-inch vinyl records can fit many older record players. They have limited capacities compared to 12-inch records, as they are designed to hold just one song on each side. Because of this, they've mostly been used to sell singles in advance of full-length LPs.

10" vinyl records

10-inch vinyl records at 78 rpm have the highest speed of any type, giving them the potential for exceptional sound quality. Yet they can only store a few minutes of audio per side due to these same high speeds, making them inaccessible to most modern listeners. 10-inch vinyl records are highly valued as rare collectors' items, despite having been rendered virtually obsolete by their 12-inch counterparts.

Coloured vinyl records

Adding even more artistic appeal for collectors, coloured records have been popular for decades – and they're still going strong today. Many albums have been released as coloured vinyl records in recent years, often as rare, limited-edition items.
