After enjoying considerable success as solo performers in Jamaica in the late the Sixties, Bob Andy and Marcia Griffiths joined the roster of leading producer, Harry Johnson, swiftly uniting in the studio to record a joyous reggae version of Nina Simone’s celebratory ‘To Be Young, Gifted And Black’, which in the Spring of 1970 peaked in UK pop charts at Number 5. The single was swiftly followed by the duo’s immensely popular debut long-player of the same title, which further bolstered their reputation as the sweethearts of reggae.
This special celebratory re-issue, forms part of HMV’s Centenary Anniversary campaign and comes pressed on red vinyl and is limited to 750 copies.
