John Grant / The Art Of The Lie
Renowned songwriter, synth maestro and baritone vocalist John Grant has produced a rich record of dizzying contrasts. Exaggerating their already broad vocal range with funky talk-boxes, Grant delivers emotive balladry, flagrant funk, saccharine highs and heartbreaking lows. With razor sharp wit and exceptional song craft throughout, The Art Of The Lie is an album with its heart on its sleeve and both feet on the dance floor.

Maggie Rogers / Don't Forget Me

Don't Forget Me is an album that does exactly what it says on the tin. It works its way into your life with its moments of catchy choruses and high energy frenzy, but it absolutely will not budge afterwards. The staying power is found in the raw view into Maggie Rogers life. This is an album that does not pull any punches, so when the chorus of "drunk" hits, you won't be able to resist singing along.

Charli XCX / brat

One time main-line pop girlie, now music legend, Charli XCX has managed the big 3 achievements many artists dream of. She's taken the music that inspired her like the hyperpop aesthetics and achingly vulnerable songwriting. She's blended those and developed them over several releases into something distinct and iconic. But most importantly, she's taken this sound mainstream and to the world without diluting or abandoning what makes her unique. brat is a celebration of what remains when you strip away pretension and fluff, only to be left with the crystalised core of a musical tour de force.

Gatecreeper / Dark Superstition

'Dark Superstition' is the third album from Arizona's Gatecreeper, and their first with Nuclear Blast Records. And it's a brutal step forward, with the melodic death metallers retaining their breakneck style, while incorporating groovy hooks and heavy-as-hell doom you wouldn't find out of place on an Entombed or classic Paradise Lost record. It's a pummelling LP, the songs are huge, andthe production (courtesy of Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou) is on point, cementing 'Dark Superstition' as one of the metal albums of the year. For fans of: Obituary, Entombed, Undeath.

The Ghost Inside / Searching For Solace

California metalcore crew The Ghost Inside drop 'Searching For Solace', a beast of an album that builds on an already stellar career. Maintaining their melodic hardcore sound, while throwing in djent bomb riffs that would easily fit into a Meshuggah stompfest, 'Searching For Solace' is packed full of bangers that will no doubt whip a crowd up into a frenzy, spinning epic singalong moments into crushing breakdowns. For fans of: Parkway Drive, As I Lay Dying, Emmure.

NxWorries / Why Lawd?

The inimitable Anderson Pak continues his reign as one of the most versatile hitmakers working today. His soulful croons and emotive raps are backed up by cult producer Knxwledge, who lays down nothing but the smoothest samples and off kilter drum loops. It’s an eclectic and confident offering, that makes a case for NxWorries being the most vital duos in Hip Hop and R&B. For fans of: Silk Sonic, Kendrick Lamar, Thundercat

Apocalyptica
 / Plays Metallica Vo. 2
Nearly 30 years since Apocalyptica shook metal fans awake with classical renditions of their favourite Metallica songs, and after several albums of original material, they have returned with the long awaited 'Volume 2'. 9 more songs have been given a makeover, from classics like 'Ride the Lightning', The Four Horsemen' and 'Blackened' (which is every bit as hectic as the original) to more recent tunes like 'St. Anger' and 'The Unforgiven II'. Among other guest appearances, James Hetfield and Robert Trujillo themselves round the album off with an ethereal version of 'One'. A worthy follow up to an album that quite possibly paved the way for the seminal 'S&M' live album.

Willie Nelson / The Border

'The Border' is The Legendary Willie Nelson's 75th solo album. If you count live albums, compilations, and collaborations, it's more like the 150th. Needless to say, you know what you're getting from Willie and his infamously worn out guitar Trigger, still being faithfully used for over 50 years. 'The Border' is token Nelson Country, each of the 10 tracks telling a story, his voice and guitar playing as strong as ever, the album sitting nicely in the Willie Nelson (and country music) canon.

Rotting Christ / Pro Xristou

Rotting Christ have returned, and the ever-reliable greek masters of heavy, atmospheric, big-riff metal do not disappoint. 'Pro Xristou' follows a pantheon of epic masterpieces, with no sign of compromising in the slightest. Album teasers 'The Apostate' and 'Like Father Like Son' were already huge, and glorious roaring epics like 'The Sixth Day', 'La Lettera Del Diavolo' and 'The Farewell' will shake the heavens, where even despite their name, Rotting Christ could reign supreme. A great album, with great great songs. For fans of Enslaved, 1349, Emperor/Ihsahn.
