Laurel & Hardy Collection

£21.99

Released: 30th October 2017. Collection of classic comedies starring Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. In 'Way Out West' (1937) Stan and Ollie find themselves in another fine mess when they bungle the delivery of a gold mine deed to Mary Roberts (Rosina Lawrence). Duped by a saloon owner into giving the deed away, the duo set about restoring it to its rightful owner. In 'The Bohemian Girl' (1936) Stan and Ollie star as a pair of gypsies living on the land of the cruel Count Arnheim (William P. Carleton) in 18th century Austria. When Ollie's wife has an affair behind his back, her lover is caught and flogged by Count Arnheim's guards. As an act of revenge, she then kidnaps the Count's daughter, Arline (Julie Bishop), only to run away with her lover shortly afterwards. 12 years later the gypsies are back in the area surrounding Count Arnheim's palace, and Arline, unaware of her true parentage, ventures into the Count's castle. In 'Sons of the Desert' (1933), in order for Stan and Ollie to travel to a fraternity convention in Chicago, which their wives have no interest in attending, Ollie feigns a disease which can only be cured by a long sea voyage. However, the ship on which they are supposed to be travelling to Honolulu sinks at sea - so while Stan and Ollie are living it up in Chicago, their spouses think they are dead! In 'Saps at Sea' (1940), after struggling to recover from the stress brought on by his job as a tester in a horn factory, Ollie rents a boat with Stan and heads out into the open seas. However, the pair are unaware that escaped murderer Nick Granger (Dick Cramer) has stowed away on board and must quickly come up with a plan to get rid of him. Finally, in 'A Chump at Oxford' (1940), as a reward for thwarting a bank robbery, Stan and Ollie are given the money to study at Oxford. After a blow on the head, Stan believes he is the long-lost Lord Paddington, a brilliant athlete and scholar, and Ollie has to suffer the indignity of serving as his sidekick's lackey.
