In 'Escape Room' (2019) six strangers receive an unexpected invitation to play an escape room with the chance of winning a large sum of money. As they sit around waiting for the game to start, they realise that the clock has already begun counting down their remaining time. When the tasks get increasingly more dangerous however, their motives change from playing to win to playing to save their lives. In the sequel, 'Escape Room: Tournament of Champions' (2021), still recovering from their horrific ordeal at the Minos Corporation escape room, Zoey and Ben (Taylor Russell and Logan Miller) decide to seek out the organisers to question their methods. En route to the Minos head office, Zoey's necklace is stolen and as they chase the assailant, they are thrown into the depths of another game. Along with four winners from other rooms, they must once again figure out the clues to escape with their lives.
