Released: 20th September 2024. Erland Cooper's album 'Carve the Runes Then Be Content With Silence' is released on the Autumn equinox in September 2024, following its premier live at The Barbican in London on 8th June. The first public reveal comes 3 years from the day the only master tape was planted deep into the Orkney soil, and all digital copies were deleted. Inspired by natural landscapes and ruminating on time, hope, community and patience, the sole recording of the work - on ? inch magnetic tape - was planted to grow and be nurtured or 'recomposed' by the earth, before being exhumed and released three years later. If the planted tape is found before release, Erland will invite the discoverer to his studio to embark on a journey together for the treasured first listen. It will then be released exactly as it sounds from the earth. The album is a recording of Cooper's brand new three-movement composition for solo violin and string ensemble. After digitisation, the composer will complete the score for live performance as a true collaboration with the natural world. The work marks the centenary of celebrated Orkney poet George Mackay Brown, as 2021 marks 100 years since his birth.

    • Standard delivery is a Royal Mail Tracked 48® service and usually arrives within 2-5 working days, including Saturdays. 
    • Express delivery is either a Royal Mail Tracked 24® or DPD service, for delivery within two working days (if ordered by 2pm, Monday to Friday - excluding public holidays).
    • We’ll aim to dispatch pre-orders so that you receive them on the release date.
