Tijuana Bibles

Free Milk

£10.99

Released: 8th December 2023. Tijuana Bibles are a 4 piece indie rock band from Glasgow area. The band have toured all over Europe and UK and play most of the big Rock and indie festivals. They released a few singles just before lockdown and now the debut album. It's a riotous first album from the band that after a number of years of lying dormant it sounds like a call to arms. If early Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys wanted to fight at the next weight level up from where they were, and got the Clash in to train them, then this is what they could have sounded like. Indie rock has no right to be as incendiary as this. The opening track Stateless could be a prodigy mix of a Pitchshifter track. Pariah is the dystopian disco incarnate. A song to dance in the rubble to. Song after song the band are going toe to toe with the best of the albums that the major labels have produced this year and no quarter is being given. Title track Free Milk even conjures up, in part, the ghost of Alex Harvey in the vocals of Tony Costello, which is a nice subtle nod to the city of their birth. Putting this on is akin to ordering a molotov cocktail and a match to go at closing time in the last chance saloon. Glasgow has a strong history of antiestablishement class action and this could be argued is the intellectual and emotional beat of the cities heart put to music.
