Ever since emerging from the mist-shrouded Karelian town of Joensuu, Insomnium has been bringing light to those who live in the shadows. For the tenth time, they are raising the curtains to a new album full of Finnish melancholy, haunting melodies, and ferocious melodic death. Produced by Miiro Varjus and mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren (At The Gates, Arch Enemy, Kreator, The Halo Effect, Dark Tranquillity.), the 'Netherworlds' captures Insomnium at their most dynamic and cinematic yet and marks the first album since the joining of guitarist Tomy Laisto. The album's gloomy albeit lush artwork was created by Travis Smith (Opeth, Amorphis, Devin Townsend.) and allows into a deep dive into Insomnium's trademark melancholy. Never content to rely solely on old formulas or walk only the beaten paths, Insomnium continues to search for new shades, textures, and emotional depths within its music without losing its core.
