Released: 29th March 2024. Robert Tannahill, the 18th Century Paisley Weaver Poet, had the melodic gift of Robert Burns the song-writer and the radical sensibilities of Hamish Henderson. His 'Braes o Balquhidder' inspired the McPeake family's famous 'Wild Mountain Thyme' and his many fine pastoral songs, like 'The Braes o Gleniffer' have long been celebrated amongst folk musicians in Scotland and farther afield. The new CCL CD was released to a standing ovation at Celtic Connections to coincide with Tannahill's 250th anniversary. Featuring singers Fiona Hunter (Malinky); Claire Hastings (Trad Award Recipient); John Morran (Deaf Shepherd); Cameron Nixon (Rising Star & Finalist Trad Awards) Players Angus Lyon (Blazin Fiddles); Mare Duff (ex Capercaillie); Phil Alexander (Moishe's Bagels); Adam Bulley (Accompanist to Martin Taylor); Frank McLaughlin (Stewart Hardy Duo); Euan McLaughlin (Alba Awards Finalist); Chris Wright (Lucy Pringle Duo). Fred Freeman is the producer and musical arranger of the CD and is well known for production of some 49 CDs, including 'The Complete Songs of Robert Burns' (12 volumes, Linn Records); 2 Greentrax Tribute Albums to Hamish Henderson; a 5 volume 'Borders Traditions' series and more. Freeman is currently Professor at The Royal Conservatoire of Music in Glasgow.

    When will my order arrive?

    • We aim to dispatch in-stock items within 24 hours* 
    • Standard UK delivery: Royal Mail Tracked 48® service, usually within 2-5 working days (including Saturdays).
    • Express UK delivery: Royal Mail Tracked 24® or DPD, usually within two working days (order by 2pm, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays).
    • International delivery: Tracked service, usually within 3-5 working days.
    • Pre-orders: dispatched with the aim to deliver on the release date.
