Tyrone Davis is the all-time great American soul singer who broke through in the late 1960s and never really stopped recording. In 1968 he found a home in Dakar Records when a Texas DJ flipped his first release and started playing the B-side 'Can I Change My Mind'. The song went to number 1 in the R&B charts and Top 5 in the US Billboard charts. This is Davis's stunning 1969 debut album, featuring the tracks 'Knock On Wood', 'Slip Away' and 'Call On Me', rooted in the earthy, rough-edged traditions of Memphis soul.
